Here’s the twist nobody sees coming: every deck on MSC World Asia is named after an Asian city – Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai, Singapore, Manila, all 22 of them – and yet when this 215,863-ton mega-ship debuts in December 2026, it won’t be sailing anywhere near Asia. It’s heading straight for the Western Mediterranean. Make sense of that later – first, here’s what’s actually on board.

MSC’s newest flagship is the third vessel in the World Class series, built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and it’s genuinely massive – 333 meters long, 2,582 cabins, capacity for 6,762 guests. Here’s the deck layout, the standout features, the Yacht Club suites, and where it’s actually sailing.

So what actually is this ship?

MSC World Asia is the third ship in MSC Cruises’ World Class series, following World Europa (2022) and World America (2025), with World Atlantic still to come in 2027. Construction began at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in April 2024, and the ship is Malta-flagged, registered in Valletta. It’s powered by five dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG or low-sulfur fuel, putting out a combined 80,150 hp for a cruising speed of 22.7 knots.

  • โš“ 215,863 gross tonnage, 333 meters long, 22 decks
  • ๐Ÿ›๏ธ 2,582 cabins, capacity for up to 6,762 guests plus 2,138 crew
  • ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France
  • โ›ฝ Dual-fuel LNG engines, in line with the rest of the World Class fleet
  • ๐Ÿ“ถ SpaceX Starlink Wi-Fi on board (fee-based)
  • ๐ŸŒ Every deck is named after an Asian city – despite the ship’s actual itinerary

The Asian city deck names

MSC leaned fully into the theme for this ship’s naming convention, and it’s worth laying out because it’s genuinely one of the more memorable design choices in the fleet: Deck 5 is Bangkok, Deck 6 is Seoul, Deck 7 is Tokyo, Deck 8 is Beijing, Deck 9 is Delhi, Deck 10 is Istanbul, Deck 11 is Manama, Deck 12 is Muscat, Deck 14 is Jeddah, Deck 15 is Doha, Deck 16 is Dubai, Deck 18 is Manila, Deck 19 is Jakarta, Deck 20 is Singapore, Deck 21 is Kuala Lumpur, and Deck 22 is Malรฉ.

Deck 20 (Singapore) – the aqua park and adventure zone

The top-deck adventure district is where most of the ship’s thrill factor lives. The aqua park brings a full lineup of water slides, and the standout new feature is The Spiral at the Tree of Life – a brand-new slide design that’s one of the ship’s headline additions over its World Class siblings. Alongside it sits a ropes course and the Cliffhanger element for anyone wanting an actual physical challenge rather than just a pool day, plus The Clubhouse, a dedicated space rounding out the deck’s activity offering.

Deck 18 (Manila) – the main pool decks

Manila Bay Pool anchors this deck as the ship’s primary swimming and lounging area, with Coral Cove Pool and its adjoining Jacuzzi offering a slightly quieter alternative nearby – a common World Class layout pattern of splitting the main pool crowd across two distinct zones rather than funneling everyone into one central pool deck.

The MSC Yacht Club – decks 16, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22

MSC’s ship-within-a-ship premium enclave spans several of the upper decks, and it’s a genuinely different tier of cruise experience from the rest of the ship.

  • Decks 21-22 (Kuala Lumpur/Malรฉ) – the Yacht Club Grill & Bar and a dedicated sun deck, exclusive to Yacht Club guests
  • Decks 19-20 (Jakarta/Singapore) – the Top Sail Lounge and restaurant, the Yacht Club’s dedicated dining and lounge space
  • Decks 16 and 18 (Dubai/Manila) – home to the new Royal Duplex Suite, a two-level suite category that’s one of the most significant new accommodation additions on this ship compared to its World Class predecessors

Yacht Club guests get a private enclave, dedicated dining, a separate pool and sun deck area, and butler service – the closest thing to a boutique hotel experience layered on top of a mega-ship.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Did you know?

Despite every one of its 22 decks being named after a city in Asia, MSC World Asia won’t sail anywhere near the continent when it enters service. MSC names each World Class ship after a continent to reflect the breadth of its global route network rather than where that specific ship will actually operate – World Europa sails the Mediterranean and Caribbean, World America splits between the Mediterranean and the Americas, and World Asia is launching with seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries out of Barcelona before moving to the South Caribbean for Winter 2027-2028.

Deck 6 (Seoul) – shopping, chocolate and a new-look Luna Park

The World Galleria runs the ship’s main retail concourse, and it’s home to what MSC is calling the largest Venchi chocolate experience at sea – live chocolate production, Italian gelato, and a completely new flavor called Crunchy Waves created specifically for this ship. Also on Deck 6 is a redesigned Luna Park, an updated take on the family entertainment zone that’s appeared in different forms across the World Class fleet.

Deck 7 (Tokyo) – the theater and casino

The World Theater gets a new design for this ship, serving as the main entertainment venue for evening shows, while the Panorama Lounge and Casino round out the deck as the ship’s main nightlife and gaming hub.

Deck 8 (Beijing) – the food deck

Deck 8 is where most of the ship’s dining variety concentrates. Eataly brings its Italian marketplace concept on board, the World Promenade runs as the ship’s central indoor boulevard connecting shops and venues, and a new Pan-Asian Restaurant – a fitting addition given the ship’s naming theme – joins the lineup alongside Sweet Temptations for desserts and the All-Star Bar.

Where MSC World Asia is actually sailing

The ship enters service on December 4, 2026, sailing seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia (for Rome), Messina and Valletta. That routing holds through the 2026-2027 season, with Naples replacing Civitavecchia on the Summer 2027 itinerary. From Winter 2027-2028, MSC World Asia moves to the South Caribbean, while sister ship MSC World Europa continues to hold down the Western Mediterranean route.

Booking and MSC’s loyalty program

Cabins on MSC World Asia are already on sale for the December 2026 launch season. MSC runs its own loyalty program, the MSC Voyagers Club, which earns points across cruises and unlocks tiered benefits including onboard discounts, priority boarding and cabin upgrade opportunities at higher tiers – worth enrolling before booking if you’re likely to sail with MSC more than once. Boarding for a typical MSC sailing opens around 11:00-11:30 AM as indicated on the cruise ticket, and guests may bring limited sealed wine or champagne aboard, though hard alcohol for personal consumption isn’t permitted.
